INSURANCE INFORMATION

East Houston Medical Center collaborates with a wide range of insurance providers to ensure accessible care for patients across Texas. Licensed under Chapter 241 of the Texas Health and Safety Code, the hospital adheres to stringent state regulations governing healthcare facilities. Our emergency room services are competitively priced, with facility fees applied in accordance with Texas law . Please be aware that some services or physicians may be out-of-network with your health plan, potentially resulting in separate billing. We recommend patients verify their coverage details prior to receiving care.

Your insurance network must pay for an ER visit whether it’s “in network” or “out of network”

Under the federal No Surprises Act, your health insurance plan is required to cover emergency room visits at both in-network and out-of-network facilities without the need for prior authorization. This means that if you receive emergency care at an out-of-network hospital or emergency department, you cannot be balance billed for the services provided. Instead, you are only responsible for your plan’s standard in-network cost-sharing amounts, such as copayments, coinsurance, and deductibles. These protections apply to most private health insurance plans, ensuring that patients are not burdened with unexpected medical bills during emergencies.

WHAT IF MY INSURANCE REFUSES TO PAY?

East Houston Medical Center accepts most major insurance plans, helping patients across Texas access top-rated emergency care. The facility is a fully licensed hospital under Chapter 241 of the Texas Health and Safety Code and adheres to the Hospital Licensing Rules. Emergency room pricing is competitive with other leading Texas hospitals and may include a standard facility fee. Some services or physicians may be out-of-network depending on the patient’s health coverage provider. Physicians delivering care at our ER may bill separately from the hospital. Currently, East Houston Medical Center is considered out-of-network for all insurance benefit plans.
