If the emergency room physician is unable to fix and improve your health in one quick visit, they will recommend moving you to an inpatient bed. Our team at East Houston Medical Center will decide that if you need to be placed in observation or even need longer continuation of care, they will place in one of our roomy, up-to-date inpatient rooms.
When you visit our emergency room, your medical condition or emergency may require more intensive treatment. When that is the case, the emergency room team transfers you from the ED (Emergency Room Department) to an inpatient bed. To ensure you get the care you need, no matter your medical emergency, East Houston Medical Center has inpatient beds. Meaning that our team can transfer you from the care of the emergency room to inpatient care to observe and treat your health issue.
Determination for the need of an inpatient bed is decided by the board-certified emergency room physician after an evaluation. Our team may recommend moving you to an inpatient bed in order to continue to observe your health, or if they need to provide inpatient treatments for your medical needs.
Inpatient beds can be used for patients with a wide variety of medical needs, from severe shortness of breath due to flu sickness, to a patient with chest pain that needs to be monitored or additional testing as needed until they can be sent home, or transferred to a bigger hospital.
